Division Duties IncludePopulation Health DivisionDirects and has overall responsibility for citywide public health functions in the Population Health Division, including the work of specialized branches and sectionsDevelops and supports leaders within their direct reporting structure to strengthen a diverse workforce and achieve citywide public health goalsDevelops relationships to facilitate alignment and effective communication with internal and external stakeholdersRepresents the work of PHD to internal and external partners and stakeholders.Develops and manages budgets for their areas of work in partnership with PHD leadershipPrimary CareOverseeing clinic operations in a variety of community-based clinicsQualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPossession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California*AND Possession of valid Board Certification in the appropriate medical specialty area for the assigned facility or divisionAND Three (3) years of post-residency experience as a practicing physician in the respective medical specialty area. One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). *Applicants possessing a valid license to practice medicine issued from another state within the United States of America may apply, but if selected, the candidate will NOT be appointed/hired until they obtain a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. Training and Experience Assessment (T&E): (Weight 100%) The T&E is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas which may include but not be limited to: Knowledge of: Highly specialized professional knowledge of the modern practices and procedures in the field of the appropriate medical specialty; knowledge of supervisory, administrative, and budgetary principles and practices. Ability or Skill to: make expert diagnoses, interpretations and recommendations on a consultative basis and to organize, direct and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in clinical treatment and services. Candidates must achieve a passing score on the T&E exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score. Certification The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of List. Eligible List/Score Report: A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only.
