Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Nurse in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in the ICU setting, with floating responsibilities to Emergency Room (ER) and Medical Surgery (Med Surg) departments. The position requires adaptiveness to different clinical environments and supports maintaining high-quality patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Position: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Nurse
• Location: Carlsbad, NM
• Schedule: Nights, 6:30 PM 6:30 AM, a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); a minimum of 2 years experience in ICU with ER and Medical Surgery experience; TNCC preferred; experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred; must have current fingerprints on file with the state of New Mexico, as part of onboarding procedures.
• Float: Float rotation may be required; floating to ER and Med Surg departments, with specific duties including answering call lights, passing medications, transporting patients, starting IVs, and blood draws. When floating to Med Surg, full patient assignments of up to six patients or tasks as an aide with up to 12 patients may be requested.
• Start Date: 08/03/2026
• Department Details: ICU with 12 beds and a patient ratio of 1:2-3; no call required; hospital uses MedHost EMR; scrubs of any color acceptable.
• Additional Information: The position involves covering a vacancy in a high-acuity unit with specific clinical skills and the ability to adapt to floating roles within the facility.
