Inpatient Operations Pharmacist - PRN

Overview This position maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment. The pharmacist prepares, dispenses, and verifies medications for an assigned group of patients, providing drug information, patient education, and other clinical pharmacy services. Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Preferred: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) Work Experience Required: None. Certifications Required: Current Pharmacy license in the state of practice Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally. Skills necessary to compound pharmaceuticals, operate technical equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Job Duties Evaluate all physician orders based on a clinical assessment of the patient including allergies, age, renal function, concomitant drug therapy, lab values, approved dosing guidelines, best practice protocols, diagnosis, and physical clinical status. Assure the safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products and investigational drugs. Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes through intervention documentation, ADR assessment, chart reviews, target drug reviews, patient education, and drug information provision. Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licensures and certifications through continuing education. Manage the operations of the pharmacy in compliance with state and federal regulations. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and adjusting communication style. Physical & Environmental Demands Medium work: lifting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally; daily standing or walking; manual dexterity required; flexibility for shifts including 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call. Workplace may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases present.
