Prepress Associate

Job Summary The Prepress Associate plays a key role in supporting efficient production operations by ensuring screens, inks, artwork files, labels, and other prepress materials are prepared accurately and available on time. This position helps maintain print quality, inventory accuracy, and workflow coordination across the production floor. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment while collaborating closely with internal teams. This role provides an opportunity to expand knowledge of screen printing, color management, and packaging production processes. Responsibilities Prepress & Production Preparation: Perform color matching and mixing of inks for production jobs. Operate and burn screens using the Saati Laser to Screen machine. Coat and prep screens for the production floor for screen printed orders. Oversee machine work orders and forecast screen demand. Stage job materials at workstations, including job packets, inks, screens, and labels. Upon job completion, put away job materials in inventory. Inventory & Purchasing: Conduct cycle counts and inventory checks on inks, screens, and prepress supplies on a weekly basis. Ensure all inks are clean, organized, and labeled correctly. Receive label inventory, complete quality inspections and document retain samples, and organize the label room. Conduct label cycle counts and physical counts as necessary. Purchase production materials and department supplies and manage purchase orders from entry through receipt. Act as a backup for the cycle count program. Artwork & File Management: Organize customer digital artwork files in shared folders, including PDF, AI, EPS, and other common file formats (no design work required). File organization, manipulation, and production preparation only; no original artwork creation required. Ensure digital art files are labeled accurately and routed correctly. Verify and enter data into computer systems. Quality & Safety: Support and maintain company safety and quality initiatives. Perform finished good quality checks on an hourly basis. General Administrative Support: Perform other administrative or support duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to open, review, manipulate, and prepare customer artwork files for proofing and screen‑print production functions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Comfortable working with spreadsheets, shared digital folders, and general computer applications. Experience with an ERP system, like Infor Syteline, preferred. Ability to follow established procedures while adapting to changing production priorities and workflows. Education and Experience: Two to three years of Graphics or Prepress Experience Required. Experience within Packaging/Printing industry preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience with purchasing, inventory, or logistics support is helpful. Basic familiarity with common digital file formats (PDF, AI, EPS) is a plus. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing. Working conditions are normal for a production and prepress environment, including working with inks and chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment usage is required. Position may require occasional weekend work. Position may require occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
