The Systems and Mechanical Engineering team is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer of our New Castle office at the TA Instruments business unit. Working in the R&D organization at Waters Material Science Division. You will have a unique opportunity to impact a broad range of industries including Electric Cars, 3D Printing, Energy Storage and Batteries, Pharmaceutical, Polymers, etc. developing life changing and innovative products by pushing the boundaries of materials science. You will play a key role in driving innovation and developing concepts for new measurement technologies in material characterization, working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers. This role emphasizes rapid risk retirement through fast prototyping and concept evaluation, supporting priority new product development and research projects, and collaborating across business functions to deliver solutions that meet market and customer needs.Typical Tasks of the Position Include, But Are Not Limited ToConceive and develop concepts to meet the customer requirementsPrototype and evaluate concepts rapidly, identify risks early, and develop targeted test plans for efficient mitigation and rapid development cyclesCommunicate status, results, conclusions, and next steps with clarity, highlighting impact and actionable plans.Integrate mechanical, electronics, controls, and coding into prototypes to accelerate concept evaluation and enable rapid iterations for efficient product development.Participate and lead design reviews and provide feedback where appropriate in collaboration with multidiscipline teamWork with project and product management leads on technical ideation and risk retirement strategies and solutionsWork closely with the Engineers and cross-functional team to develop product designsCommunicate concerns/suggestions/improvements relating to engineering concerns and product life cycle managementEnsure full documentation of mechanical design including BOM, drawings, and proceduresPropose and conduct simulations where relevantThe Successful Candidate Will Have a Combination of Knowledge, Skills, and Experience That Would Include the FollowingEducation:Minimum Bachelor's Degree, 5-7 years experience in a research and development environmentExperience:Prototype design, test and analysisDesign and run targeted tests to quickly identify knowledge gaps and improve designsProven ability to integrate multidisciplinary elements into prototypes for evaluation and validation.Root cause analysis methodologyExtensive experience with 3D modelling (Unigraphics / Solid Works / or Equivalent Tools)PDM and change process experienceGD&T knowledge and experienceSkills:Adept at originating and interpreting engineering designs and conceptsStrong interpersonal, technical communications skillsStrong analytical and problem solving abilitiesStrong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projectsUnderstanding of principles of physics and mechanical engineering disciplines (thermodynamics, structural mechanics and fluid dynamics principles)Experience of furnace and heater design, transducer design and operation, basic controls principlesStrong Materials Science knowledge?and familiar with testing principles and techniquesAbility to work independently and in teams to design and execute experiments and test plans, review designs and brainstorm ideasProficient in statistical data analysis, technical presentation, and clear communication of results.Well versed in simulations tools for mechanical and thermal problems, preferably Ansys/MatlabProven Design for Manufacture experience assemblyHands on experience of fabrication/assembly techniques and working with machinistsPlease ensure that you will be near to the location to which you are applying as in-person engagement will be required for this roleCompany DescriptionWaters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) is a global leader in life sciences and diagnostics, dedicated to accelerating the benefits of pioneering science through analytical technologies, informatics, and service.
