Direct Counsel is seeking a Restructuring & Insolvency Associate Attorney to join a national law firm in New York. Overview

Direct Counsel is recruiting a Restructuring & Insolvency Associate Attorney to join a broad and diverse creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, and insolvency practice . The team represents lenders, agents, companies, and other stakeholders in a wide range of restructuring, workout, enforcement, and insolvency matters.

The ideal candidate will have 1–5 years of relevant experience in restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, real estate litigation, or commercial loan workouts. Candidates with experience in commercial real estate loan workouts, mortgage foreclosure litigation, debt finance, corporate trust, Chapter 11 or Chapter 15 bankruptcy , or related matters are encouraged to apply.

• Represent lenders, agents, companies, and other stakeholders in restructuring, insolvency, workout, and enforcement matters .

• Handle matters involving commercial real estate loans, distressed assets, and mortgage foreclosure litigation .

• Assist with state and federal court litigation involving real estate, creditors’ rights, and enforcement proceedings .

• Advise clients regarding loan workouts, restructurings, enforcement strategies, and other distressed situations.

• Handle matters involving Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 bankruptcy proceedings and other insolvency-related issues.

• Work on debt finance, corporate trust, creditors’ rights, and related transactional matters.

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.

• Conduct legal research and analysis involving complex restructuring, bankruptcy, insolvency, and creditors’ rights issues.

• Collaborate with partners, clients, and other attorneys across a broad range of matters.

• 1–5 years of relevant legal experience in restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, real estate litigation, foreclosure, or commercial loan workouts.

• Experience with NY State and Federal court real estate and mortgage foreclosure litigation is preferred for mid-level candidates.

• Experience with transactional workouts, bankruptcy, debt finance, corporate trust, Chapter 11, or Chapter 15 matters is valued.

• Bankruptcy Court clerkship or bankruptcy-related experience is highly valued.

• Strong interest in restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights.

• JD from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in the New York Bar .

• Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple matters effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $225,000–$365,000 , depending on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
