Job Title State Fair Police Officer — Seasonal Salary $4,765.00 – $6,093.00 per month Job Overview Under general supervision of the Chief of Police at the California Exposition & State Fair, incumbents will perform the duties of an operational Peace Officer (Penal Code 830.2(i)) at the annual California Exposition & State Fair as well as all other events held and operated on the facility grounds. Incumbents will provide and assist in the safety and security of staff, vendors, contractors and the general public through enforcement of all laws and regulations and conduct and complete related duties for the orderly operation of the facility. Working Conditions Works near fast‑moving machinery or traffic. May be required to respond after work hours. Performs other duties requiring high physical demand. Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending and lifting. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, airborne dust, fumes, vapors, chemicals, medical waste and blood‑borne pathogens. Minimum Requirements Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements, expiration date and any restrictions. Background investigation cleared prior to hiring. Medical clearance prior to hiring. Valid POST Basic Certificate or other government‑certified acceptance by POST to operate as a solo Peace Officer. Sound moral and ethical character sufficient to pass a comprehensive background investigation. Adequate physical fitness and health to pass medical clearance examination. Participation in DMV Pull Notice Program. May be required to undergo drug testing. Desirable Qualifications POST Basic Certificate or equivalent recognized by POST. Sound moral and ethical character sufficient to pass a comprehensive background investigation. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Minimal computer skills for completion of reports and related paperwork. Valid driver’s license. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to spend long shifts on foot, standing, and walking. Willingness to work in summer heat, winter cold, rain and other harsh weather conditions.
