Position Summary

The Director of Finance is an operational role responsible for ensuring accurate contract execution, compliant billing, and effective project financial controls across Fusion’s federal programs. This position serves as the central integrator between contracts, finance, and program execution, providing leadership with real-time visibility into revenue, costs, margins, and contract performance.

This role is critical to protecting Fusion’s cash flow, maintaining audit readiness, and enabling scalable growth. The ideal candidate thrives in a small-business environment, operates with minimal oversight, and brings strong judgment to contract, billing, and program control decisions.

About the Role

Company accounting and cash. You will own U.S. GAAP books and records; the chart of accounts; journal entries and all reconciliations; monthly, quarterly, and year-end close; financial statements; revenue recognition; fixed assets, accruals, prepaids, leases, debt, and equity; accounting policies, approvals, segregation of duties, fraud controls, and record retention. You will lead treasury, banking and cash forecasting; purchasing and accounts payable; customer billing, accounts receivable, cash application and collections; payroll and labor accounting; benefit and leave reconciliations; employee expenses, corporate cards and reimbursements; and coordination of federal, state, local, payroll, sales/use, property, franchise, 1099, insurance, and other filings with qualified providers.

Government contracting and project controls. You will maintain job and cost accounting, compliant timekeeping and labor distribution, direct and indirect cost treatment, cost segregation, and revenue and billing support for FFP, T&M, cost-reimbursement, IDIQ/task-order, milestone, and hybrid work. You will build and monitor fringe, overhead, and G&A rates; support provisional rates, final indirect rates, incurred-cost submissions, FAR/DFARS requirements, and DCAA/DCMA, customer, prime, CPA, lender, and internal reviews; and CLINs, rates, fees, modifications, funding, ceilings, burn, EAC/ETC, margin, closeout, and Limitation of Cost or Funds risks.

Planning, reporting, systems, and people. You will lead budgets and forecasts for revenue, labor, indirect costs, cash, headcount, and capital spending; report company-, department-, customer-, contract-, project-, and CLIN-level results, margins, variances, utilization, and working-capital indicators; administer or oversee ERP, accounting, billing, payroll, expense, banking, and reporting systems; improve SOPs, and data quality; supervise assigned finance staff and providers; and maintain finance evidence supporting audits, CMMC Level 2, and ISO 9001.

Business development. As a member of the Business Development team, you will review solicitations; build or validate proposal pricing, labor rates, indirects, fees, cash-flow assumptions, and risk; support negotiations and color reviews; participate in customer and bid-site visits; and ensure disciplined handoffs from proposal through award and execution.

Qualifications.

Position Requirements. 

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required, 
• At least eight years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least five years with a U.S. federal contractor and prior ownership of a close and financial statements.
• Candidates must have hands-on command of full-cycle accounting, AP/AR, billing, collections, payroll/labor reconciliation, cash forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, indirect rates, project controls, FFP and T&M contracts, government timekeeping, FAR/DFARS cost and billing concepts, DCAA expectations, advanced Excel, and financial modeling.
• High integrity, clear communication, independent judgment, and the ability to travel monthly to Fairfax and for additional bid/customer site visits throughout CONUS, as required, are essential.
• An active CMA or CPA is preferred, along with experience in Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, QuickBooks, or a comparable GovCon platform; incurred-cost submissions, provisional billing rates, proposal pricing, PIEE/WAWF, SF 1408 criteria, CMMC, ISO 9001, or cleared operations.

Compensation, Benefits, and Work Arrangement

• The annual base-salary range is $145,000-$150,000. Starting base is $145,000 and becomes $150,000 after Fusion verifies an active CMA.
• A $5,000 gross signing bonus is subject to withholding and a separate agreement requiring full repayment if the employee voluntarily resigns or is terminated for Cause before 12 months. 
• Standard remote office equipment is provided. Necessary business travel is paid or reimbursed under company policy and applicable law.
