Overview Middle School Science Teacher Long-Term Substitute (April and May, 2026) St. John’s seeks a knowledgeable and experienced middle school science teacher to serve as a long-term substitute from early April of 2026 through the end of the school year. We seek teachers who value working in a highly collaborative teaching and learning environment. Candidates should be comfortable working with students with a range of academic capabilities and be open to their own continued professional growth. The person we hire must support the school’s Mission and its Precepts and Principles. Key Responsibilities Teach a course load of 4 sections Work as a member of a grade-level and departmental team. Cover study hall and offer one activity. Engage in shared middle school responsibilities and duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in earth science or science-related field Minimum three years of prior, relevant classroom teaching experience with middle school students preferred. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. An understanding and commitment to cultural competency and how to support a diverse student population of learners. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills Proficient in using technology, including Promethean Boards and the Google platform. Experience with the Blackbaud Learning Management System is a plus but not required.
