What You'll Do

• Manage complex pre- and post-operative cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery)
• Conduct daily patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Monitor and manage arrhythmias, pacemakers, electrolytes, volume status, and infection surveillance
• Perform chest tube removal, manage surgical drains, and wound care
• Coordinate patient discharge planning and care transitions
• Recognize clinical deterioration and escalate timely interventions
• Collaborate effectively with cardiac surgeons and multidisciplinary team members

What You Need

Required:

• Active Missouri license
• Board certification as PA/NP
• BLS & ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac surgery or trauma Level I experience
• Proficiency in managing cardiac surgery patients and performing relevant procedures

Preferred:

• Experience with high-acuity cardiac stepdown units
• Strong communication and professionalism skills

About the Assignment This ongoing assignment at a leading facility in St. Louis, MO, involves providing advanced inpatient cardiac surgical care in a high-acuity stepdown environment. You will work alongside cardiac surgeons and hospitalist teams, handling a patient census of 12-22 adult patients, with responsibilities including patient assessment, management, and discharge planning.
