• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday

• Call: No call or standby requirement
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: Unit, computer, and preceptor-based orientation

Travel Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license, or confirmation that the licensure application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of acute-care nursing experience; dedicated neuro and Level I trauma experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Demonstrated experience managing and titrating heparin infusions according to PTT results
• Ability to float within the general unit rotation and practice within demonstrated competencies when supporting other areas
• Ability to meet facility requirements, including participation in required screening processes

Neuro Med-Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, and other neurological conditions, as well as occasional medical overflow
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
• Administer medications and titrate heparin infusions using PTT results and established protocols
• Coordinate care with providers, nursing assistants, respiratory therapy, and the interdisciplinary team
• Monitor patients using the unit’s telemetry systems and promptly report significant changes
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic
• Support safe patient care during floating assignments by performing only skills within demonstrated competency
• Participate in unit-based education, orientation activities, and quality-focused practices
