Patient Population: We serve patients with liver/kidney disorders, pneumonia, congestive heart failure (CHF), diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Also provide care for appendicitis, cholecystitis, and wound care. Patient Ratios: 1:4/5 Number of Beds: 30 beds on B2, 14 beds on B3N Department Specifics: B2 Ortho/Neuro/Surgical Tele Unit, B3N Med/Surg Tele Unit Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions of the Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional to foster therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and community to develop a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment. Key Success Factors Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines. Understanding hospital procedures and rules. Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, allowing clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program. 1 year of Med Surg RN experience required. RN license. Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role.
