CSFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant - Float Pool Schedule: PRN, Day Shift. Responsibilities Provide direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures. Position patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety. Provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation. Utilize appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis. Assist with body‑plane closure, application of wound dressings and securing of drainage systems. Assist in room clean‑up and the removal of the soiled case cart, supplies, and trash from the OR as needed at the completion of the surgical case. Participate as a surgical team member in the preparation of the surgical suite according to the surgeon’s preference cards with appropriate instruments, resources and supplies. Participate as a surgical team member under the supervision of a physician and/or approved Certified Surgical First Assistant preceptor. Requirements BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certified First Surgical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Associates hired/transferred before 05/30/2021 are not required to hold certification. The following issuing authorities are acceptable: NBSTSA, ABSA, and NCCSA. High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job‑specific experience required.
