Tax Accountant

Job description Sykes and Company is looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team and support the unique tax and accounting needs of our pharmacy clients. This role is a great fit for someone who has a strong foundation in tax preparation and compliance and is ready to work with a greater level of independence and technical responsibility. You'll work directly with client financial information, prepare federal, state, and local tax filings, identify tax-saving opportunities, and help clients navigate tax planning throughout the year. What You'll Do:
- Gather and review client financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and transaction details
- Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for pharmacy businesses and related entities, including more complex filings as assigned
- Identify tax deductions, credits, and other opportunities to help optimize clients' tax positions
- Ensure tax filings and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted on time
- Stay current on IRS regulations, state tax laws, and tax requirements that may impact our clients
- Assist clients with tax planning, including estimated payments, available credits, and deductions
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and supporting documentation
- Compile reports related to client expenditures, payroll, and revenue
- Assist with tax audits by gathering financial information and supporting documentation
- Work collaboratively with team members and clients to resolve tax-related questions and issues What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in U.S. tax accounting
- Strong experience preparing tax returns and handling tax compliance matters
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is preferred, but not required
- Experience working with pharmacy, healthcare, or other closely held businesses is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clients and team members
- Experience with tax and accounting software; QuickBooks and ProConnect experience is preferred About the Role:
