About This Role

We are launching an exciting new Commercial Division and are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial & Multi-Family Flooring Estimator to anchor our growth.

As a foundational team member in this division, your role will extend beyond standard bidding; you will own the project pipeline from initial takeoff through field preparation. You will utilize RFMS Measure to create precise digital material takeoffs for commercial projects and new multi-family developments. Additionally, you will manage the vendor submittal process and compile comprehensive, ready-to-execute work packets for our installation crews and field supervisors.

What You'll Do

• Digital Estimating & Takeoffs: Perform precise material takeoffs using RFMS Measure, calculating net versus gross area, unit replication patterns for multi-family layouts, seam placements, and transition details from blueprints.
• Cost Estimation & Bidding: Calculate comprehensive cost projections for labor, freight, and materials across diverse commercial and multi-family finishes (LVT/LVP, broadloom/carpet tile, sheet vinyl, wood, and tile).
• Submittal Management: Own the submittal process by gathering, organizing, and submitting manufacturer data sheets, physical product samples, safety data sheets (SDS), and warranty information for architect and general

contractor approval.

• Crew & Field Preparation: Write, assemble, and hand off highly detailed work packets for installation crews and field supervisors, including unit-by-unit breakdowns, seam diagrams, specific floor-prep instructions, and material

staging lists.

• RFI & Document Control: Identify plan discrepancies, scope gaps, or unit layout inconsistencies, and professionally draft and track RFIs with general contractors and architects.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Procurement: Coordinate with material manufacturers to secure job-specific matrix pricing and evaluate installer labor burdens to protect project margins on high-volume builds.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with field operations and project management to track change orders and ensure the field team has everything required for a flawless execution.

Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of construction estimating experience, with a proven track record in commercial flooring or new-construction multi-family projects.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience using RFMS Measure (or highly transferable flooring-specific takeoff software) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Technical Skills: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference commercial blueprints, architectural finish schedules, and structural wood/concrete specifications.
• Operational Execution: Proven experience building operational field packages, writing instructions for trade crews, or organizing product submittals.
• Communication: Strong communication and organizational skills required to act as the vital link between the office bidding process and field execution.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience bidding large-scale apartment complexes, student housing, or high-rise multi-family developments.
• Existing relationships with commercial flooring manufacturers, distributors, or local commercial subcontractors.
