Landscape Technician

Landscape TechnicianOffers technical and administrative assistance to campus Landscape Tech Supervisor or Horticulturist. Physical Demands: Must be able to work in adverse weather and temperature extremes and be free from debilitating pollen allergies and the like. The employee must have the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and on occasion up to 100 pounds; stand and walk continuously; lift, stoop, and/or bend for extended periods of time; wear and work with the use of personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, etc.). The shift hours are from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Position is Essential and is subject to 24 hour day/7 day week span of operation.Preferences: MDE Responsible Personnel Training.Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class C driver's license (or equivalent) with fewer than 6 points. Must be licensed by the State of Maryland as a Certified Pesticide Applicator, Categories 3A (Ornamental Plants and Shade Trees-Exterior), 3C (Turf and Lawn Pest Control) and 6 (Right of Way and Weed). If hired without the certification, must be able to sit for the exam and obtain certification within 6 months of employment, and remain medically certified to apply pesticides. This is a condition of employment. Must be a Maryland Certified Professional Fertilizer Applicator. If hired without the certification, must be able to sit for the exam and obtain certification within 6 months of employment. This is a condition of employment.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in horticulture, agronomy or related field AND Two years in landscape construction, agronomy, or landscape maintenance work. Other: Licensure by the State of Maryland as a Certified Pesticide Applicator.
