This contract opportunity allows you to work closely with experienced educators and make a difference each day. The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates compassion, adaptability, and can connect with students—especially those using sign language as part of their communication.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Previous experience working in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar support role
- Proficiency in basic sign language (formal interpreter certification not required)
- Ability to provide assistance to students with diverse learning and communication needs
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, patient demeanor
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere
- Flexibility to adapt to different classroom situations and ages as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support students one-on-one or in small groups under the direction of classroom teachers
- Assist with implementing lesson plans and reinforcing learning activities
- Use basic sign language skills to help facilitate communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Monitor student progress and encourage participation in classroom activities
- Foster a safe, respectful, and welcoming classroom environment
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other school staff for holistic student support
