Are you looking for a new opportunity after receiving your CPA license? Are you a CPA candidate looking for a role to work under a CPA and learn a new industry. This group is seeking someone with a CPA or coursework to sit under a manager on their team. This Development Accountant provides comprehensive accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting support for development entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements through detailed general ledger analysis.

Duties Include:

• Support development accounting operations by preparing and posting monthly journal entries in the Yardi general ledger system.
• Review and code vendor invoices accurately, performing analysis and reconciliations to ensure expenses are recorded in the appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and coordinate with Transaction Services to resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Track project expenditures against Investment Committee–approved budgets and reconcile development project costs between the project cost system and the general ledger.
• Process construction loan funding and draw requests, collaborating with project accountants to ensure complete documentation, timely submissions, and prompt vendor payments.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports for development entities to internal management and external partners.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support internal and external audit processes, including construction cost audits, by preparing required schedules and documentation.
• Participate in transaction closings by reviewing settlement statements, preparing opening journal entries, and calculating gains on sale.
• Collaborate with general accounting teams, development teams across multiple regions, and joint venture partners to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
• Perform special accounting analyses and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• At least 2 years' experience in accounting, real estate or development experience a plus!
• CPA or meets education requirements to sit for the CPA preferred
