You will work with a variety of materials including metals, plastics, and composites, transforming raw materials into finished products that meet exact specifications. This role requires a master craftsperson who understands the art and science of manual machining and can consistently deliver exceptional results.Primary ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate cylindrical grinders, Lathes, mills, jib bores, to produce precision ground surfaces on workpiecesSelect appropriate grinding wheels based on material specifications and desired finishPerform internal and external cylindrical grinding operations with tolerances to +/- 0.0001"Dress and true grinding wheels to maintain optimal cutting performanceMonitor grinding operations to prevent thermal damage and maintain dimensional accuracyUtilize precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions throughout the grinding processSet up and operate engine lathes and toolroom lathes for turning, facing, boring, and threading operationsSelect and mount appropriate cutting tools, work-holding devices, and accessoriesCalculate proper speeds, feeds, and depths of cut for various materials and operationsProduction & Process ImprovementAnalyze manufacturing processes and introduce changes that improve throughput, reduce cycle times, and increase overall efficiency.Diagnose equipment problems, dimensional inconsistencies, and finish-quality concerns, involving the appropriate personnel when additional support is needed.Work closely with quality/inspection, tooling, assembly, and sales teams to keep production aligned with customer delivery requirements.Verify Bills of Material, work orders, and related job documentation to ensure all information is correct and complete prior to starting a job.Keep production documentation current, including job travelers, required approvals, signoffs, and first-piece inspection records.
