Azure API Architect | W2 Only | On-site role. North Chicago, IL. Job Title: Azure API Architect Location: North Chicago, IL. On-site. W2 Only. Ideal Candidate: A hands-on Azure API Architect with strong APIM, Azure Integration Services, API security, and enterprise integration modernization experience. Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Azure API Architect with 12+ years of overall IT experience and 5+ years of Azure integration experience. The candidate will design secure, scalable enterprise API platforms using Azure API Management (APIM) and Azure Integration Services, lead API modernization initiatives, and provide technical architecture leadership. Key Responsibilities Design enterprise API architecture using Azure APIM, REST/SOAP APIs, and OpenAPI/Swagger. Build integration solutions using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Event Grid. Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, and Azure Key Vault. Define API governance, versioning, throttling, monitoring, and lifecycle management standards. Design microservices, event-driven, and hybrid cloud integration architectures. Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code. Lead legacy middleware migration to Azure Integration Services. Develop HLD/LLD documents, conduct design reviews, and guide development teams. Mandatory Skills Azure Functions and Logic Apps REST API architecture and enterprise integration patterns OAuth 2.0, JWT, and Microsoft Entra ID Azure networking and API security Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and API governance Enterprise integration architecture and modernization Good to Have AKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Container Apps Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates C# / .NET, PowerShell, or Python TIBCO, MuleSoft, or BizTalk migration experience Azure Solutions Architect certification Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 12+ years of overall IT experience.
