Job Title: Test Technician
Job Description
The Test Technician on 1st shift diagnoses and resolves mechanical and electrical issues on failed units, performs detailed disassembly and evaluation, and supports production and quality initiatives. This role works independently within a clean, climate-controlled facility, ensuring accurate documentation, safe work practices, and efficient handling of returned and in-process products.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on failed units, identifying root causes and documenting findings.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and follow all established safety rules, procedures, and policies.
- Disassemble and evaluate failed units to determine necessary repairs, replacements, or disposition.
- Verify that all paperwork accurately matches the units being tested, repaired, or processed.
- Receive product into the SAP/RGA system, ensuring accurate data entry and proper tracking of returned goods.
- Disassemble units returned for stock and prepare components for reuse or further processing.
- Complete rebuild paperwork write-ups clearly and accurately to reflect work performed and unit status.
- Assist the production group as needed to support workflow, resolve issues, and maintain throughput.
- Scrap product according to established guidelines and document scrapped items appropriately.
- Stage product in designated areas to maintain organized flow of materials and units.
- Maintain 5S standards in the work area, including organization, cleanliness, and visual management.
- Follow and use job instructions (JI’s) and standard reference documents (SRD’s) to ensure consistent and compliant work practices.
- Actively participate in company suggestion, quality, efficiency, and cost savings programs by providing feedback and ideas for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations, production, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Test Technician or in a closely related role.
- Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to disassemble, evaluate, and rebuild mechanical components.
- Solid electrical skills, with the ability to understand and troubleshoot basic electrical systems and components.
- Proven troubleshooting ability to diagnose issues on failed units and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Capability to work independently while managing tasks and priorities effectively on 1st shift.
- Attention to detail to ensure paperwork, documentation, and system entries accurately match the units being processed.
- Commitment to following safety rules, policies, and procedures in a production and testing environment.
- Ability to collaborate with production and other departments, communicating clearly with various personalities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems for receiving and tracking product returns is beneficial.
- Familiarity with 5S principles and continuous improvement programs is an advantage.
- Interest in further training in maintenance, robotics, or related technical fields.
- Willingness to participate in professional development and company-sponsored training programs.
- Flexibility to occasionally travel to other plants within the United States if desired (not required).

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $76280.00/yr.
