Job Description
The Forklift Operator ensures the timely and accurate receiving, shipping, and delivery of parts and products. In this role, you support the supply chain by safely operating powered industrial vehicles and material handling equipment to serve both internal and external customers while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.
Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other lift trucks in a constant state of alertness, following all material handling and safety requirements to move, distribute, ship, and receive parts and equipment.
• Work safely at elevated heights up to 50 feet while handling materials and performing warehouse tasks.
• Maintain a strong safety focus by applying knowledge of sling, hoist, and crane operations when moving materials.
• Perform stocking duties to address and resolve complex warehouse or factory capacity issues.
• Keep accurate records of all material transactions and conduct audits to ensure overall inventory levels remain correct.
• Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure all department records are complete and accurate.
• Use a computer and handheld RF scanner to track inventory movements and update system records in real time.
• Complete regular cycle counts to maintain and verify inventory accuracy.
• Support production system-driven processes and activities by ensuring materials are available and correctly positioned for operations.
• Follow written work instructions in English and adhere to all safety and operational procedures.
• Handle materials using pallet jacks and other material handling tools as needed.

Essential Skills

• Ability to operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles safely, or willingness to learn and follow training.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and maintain a strong focus on safety.
• Comfort working at elevated heights up to 50 feet.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn sling, hoist, and crane operations to move materials safely.
• Ability to use a computer and handheld RF scanner for inventory tracking.
• Ability to read and understand English and follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including stooping, bending, twisting, turning, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, grabbing, and grasping.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and inventory control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience with powered industrial vehicle (PIV) operation preferred but not required.
• Prior manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience using RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment is an asset.
• Familiarity with inventory control processes such as cycle counting and transaction auditing is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a warehouse and production environment that uses modern material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and computer-based inventory systems. You will work on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The role involves working around powered industrial vehicles, stored materials at various heights, and active production areas. The environment requires frequent physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, and working at elevated heights up to 50 feet. You should expect to wear appropriate work attire and any required personal protective equipment suitable for a warehouse and material handling setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
