Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Evening), 0700-1930. Weekend and holiday rotations based on operational need. Patient ratio of approximately 1:6 on weekends.

• 28-bed fast-paced Medical Surgical Telemetry unit at a Magnet-designated hospital
• Diverse patient population including medical conditions (COPD, heart failure, diabetes, infections) and surgical cases (orthopedic, bariatric, neurosurgery, general surgery)
• Epic electronic medical record system; state-of-the-art technology and evidence-based practice environment
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
• Approximately 20 hours of orientation provided; floating to other units as needed based on operational requirements
• Free onsite parking available

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license required
• Minimum of two years acute care experience within the last three years in Medical Surgical or Telemetry specialty
• Epic charting system experience required
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only)
• Must successfully pass comprehensive telemetry examination prior to start date (80% passing score; 100% accuracy required on lethal rhythms and third-degree heart blocks)
• Candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Clinical Skills:

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining peripheral lines, PICC line management, and central line blood draws
• Administration of IV drips (insulin, heparin, PCA)
• Blood product administration and phlebotomy
• Wound care including wound VAC management
• Specialized patient care including bariatric surgery, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, pre/post neurosurgery, thyroidectomy, and substance withdrawal
• Ostomy management, feeding tube care, and oxygen administration
