Job Description - Intern Engineering Support - Bridge Division Division (2602151) Job Description Position Information TxDOT’s Bridge Division is looking for Engineering Interns based in Austin, TX. Texas’s inventory of roughly 57,000 bridges is nearly 28,000 more than any other state and more than the combined inventories of 17 states. The Bridge Design Section develops plans and specifications for new and replacement bridges, rehabilitations, and major structural improvements throughout the state. We oversee activities pertaining to the creation of in-house bridge, railing, and traffic structures design, and plan preparation; intelligent 3D bridge modeling; research implementation; bridge standards development; historic bridge preservation; bridge design policy; and bridge detailing guidance. Gathers basic data and assists with routine statistical analysis. Performs data entry and computer‑aided analysis. Prepares required worksheets and inspection reports. Processes various construction‑related documents and maintains construction project records. Uses drafting equipment and performs hand or computer‑aided drafting and calculating work. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS. Other Conditions: Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school.
