System Reliability & Support Specialist Sr. - Core Apps and Payroll Team

Position Overview As a Systems Reliability & Support Specialist Senior within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be part of the HR Core Apps and Payroll team and report into a Software Engineering Manager Senior. The role spans multiple locations: Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Cleveland OH, Dallas TX, and Phoenix AZ. You will own and evolve Workday integrations and related HR/Payroll applications, leading ETL workflows, mainframe JCL jobs, file transmissions, and monitoring across a complex, business‑critical ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Incident Resolution – troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, mentor peers, and contribute to engineering standards. Technical Lead – demonstrate ownership of governance and controls for assigned applications, including certificate renewals, vulnerability remediation, and audit response. Monitoring & Reliability – use Dynatrace, BigPanda and other tools to detect anomalies, reduce MTTR, and drive incident prevention through observability and automation. Access & Security – partner with PNC Enterprise Security and access‑management teams to ensure data security and privacy controls for all assigned applications. SDLC & Agile Delivery – work in Agile (Scrum/Kanban), manage work in Jira, and coordinate incident/change management in ServiceNow. Cross‑Team Collaboration – work closely with technology teams, vendors, and business partners to prioritize, plan, and deliver quality fixes to production issues. On‑Call Participation – rotate on call as required. Testing Support – assist with testing on large‑scale projects (e.g., Year‑End processing, Mergers & Acquisitions). Qualifications Experience: 3–5+ years supporting vendor‑hosted applications. Process & Tools: proficiency in Jira, Agile methodologies, ServiceNow or similar ticketing software; strong documentation and communication skills. Mainframe & JCL: experience with scheduling tools (e.g., CA7) and mainframe batch processing. HR Systems: familiarity with Workday (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors), Oracle Identity Manager, and other HRMS systems. Monitoring & DevOps tools: experience with Dynatrace, BigPanda, or equivalent. Communication: ability to communicate across technical and non‑technical channels, both spoken and written. Adaptability: keep pace with changing technology standards. Nice‑to‑Have Skills Workday integration troubleshooting. General ETL knowledge and maintenance. JCL and mainframe batch troubleshooting. Experience working with HR business partners.
