Job Summary
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Maryland. This role involves providing specialized patient care to adults and geriatrics in a high-acuity ICU setting. The position requires a strong skill set in cardiovascular care, including the management of mechanical support devices such as Impella and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP). The RN will work rotating shifts including nights and days, with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating night/day, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Maryland RN license, BLS, ACLS, and CPI certification required; NIHSS and CCRN preferred. No minimum years of experience required.
• Patient Ratio: 1:1, up to 3 with stable, lower acuity patients.
• Common Diagnoses: Cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups including LVAD and heart transplants, and mechanical support devices such as Impella and IABP.
• Special Procedures: Bedside central line and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
• Special Equipment: Impella, ventricular assist devices (VAD), IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, CCO monitors.
• Additional Responsibilities: Managing complex cardiac cases, frequent monitoring, and responding to emergency cardiac events.
• Floating: Occasional floating to ICU, lower acuity units, and other specialty areas as needed.
• On-call: Not required.
• Additional Notes: Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with a focus on cardiovascular patient care.
