Director of Business Development

Our client, a leading defense technology company delivering advanced hardware and software solutions to government agencies and international defense markets, is seeking a Director, Business Development to lead strategic growth efforts across defense markets, allied nations, and international customers. This is a high-impact role focused on high-value contracts ($100M+) and strategic partnerships, reporting directly to senior leadership. What You’ll Do: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy across defense and aerospace sectors Identify and qualify new market opportunities, working closely with engineering, programs, legal, and finance Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, defense contractors, aerospace firms, and international clients (including allied nations) Lead proposal development for large-scale government and commercial contracts, from prospecting through contract execution Navigate Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Direct Commercial Sales (DCS), and offset/industrial participation requirements Support contract negotiations and ensure compliance with ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and export control regulations Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to business development team members What You Bring: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred) 8-10+ years of business development experience in defense, aerospace, or related industries, including capture leadership Proven track record securing and managing large‑scale government and/or commercial contracts Strong knowledge of ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and defense procurement/budgeting processes Proficiency with CRM systems, GOVWIN, SAMS, and project management tools Exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking, and communication skills Passion for defense technology and international markets Nice to Have: Experience with munitions technology or defense hardware International sales experience and familiarity with FMS Existing network within defense agencies and international clients Knowledge of export compliance and industrial participation programs Additional language fluency relevant to defense markets Relocation assistance available 401(k) with company match Travel and expense reimbursement Generous PTO and holiday leave Professional development and tuition reimbursement On‑site role with approx. 50% travel (domestic and international); no security clearance required Interested candidates should apply directly or reach out to Tony Williams at Catapult Solutions Group for more details. #J-18808-Ljbffr
