The Executive Director (ED) is more than the administrator of the community. They are the guardian of its culture, the champion of its residents, and the leader who ensures every department contributes to a thriving environment where people can live with dignity, purpose, connection, and joy. Through strong leadership and a commitment to Living Life Together , the ED helps transform a community into a true home for residents, families, and team members alike.
The ED serves as the operational steward of the community, providing strategic leadership and oversight for Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care services.

This position reports to the Regional Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
Leadership, Culture & Whole-Person Living:
- Lead the community with a commitment to person-centered care, hospitality, and service excellence.
- Foster a culture where residents are respected, empowered, and encouraged to live meaningful lives.
- Create an environment where team members feel valued, engaged, accountable, and connected to the mission.
- Promote collaboration between all departments to ensure a seamless resident experience.
- Model professionalism, compassion, integrity, and ethical leadership.
- Conduct regular staff meetings that encourage engagement, respectful participation, communication, and solution-focused outcomes.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.
- Maintain confidentiality in all business, resident, family, and employee matters.
Resident Experience & Family Partnership:
- Ensure the well-being, safety, dignity, and quality of life of every resident.
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader for residents and families.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and families through active listening, responsiveness, and engagement.
- Address concerns with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to resolution.
- Support an environment where residents feel connected, heard, and truly at home.
- Reinforce that exceptional service and exceptional care are inseparable.
Community Relations, Marketing & Census Development:
- Serve as the primary ambassador for the community within the local market.
- Develop and implement approved marketing strategies that support occupancy and community growth.
- Build strong referral relationships with healthcare providers, hospitals, community organizations, and other strategic partners.
- Participate in community events, healthcare fairs, speaking engagements, and networking opportunities.
- Conduct tours for prospective residents and families and guide them through the decision-making process.
- Coordinate with nursing leadership to facilitate resident assessments and move-in planning.
- Ensure move-in documentation and admission processes are completed accurately and timely.
- Promote the community's mission, culture, and services to the public.
Team Leadership & Workforce Development:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for all department leaders and team members.
- Oversee staffing, workforce planning, wage management, and performance management processes.
- Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, respect, and professional growth.
- Support recruitment, retention, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Encourage development of future leaders within the organization.
- Ensure team members receive appropriate resources, education, and support to be successful in their roles.
- Promote workplace practices that prioritize safety, collaboration, and resident-centered service.
Operational Excellence & Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain oversight of all day-to-day community operations.
- Ensure services and business practices comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain readiness for inspections, surveys, and regulatory reviews.
- Investigate operational concerns and make informed decisions that support resident well-being and organizational success.
- Oversee facility operations to ensure a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment.
- Partner with maintenance and department leaders to ensure the physical campus remains compliant and operational.
- Ensure proper documentation, record retention, and administrative practices are maintained.
- Prepare and deliver required correspondence regarding residency changes and service terminations in accordance with applicable regulations.
Financial Stewardship & Business Management:
- Manage the community's operating budget and financial performance.
- Ensure responsible allocation of resources while maintaining service excellence.
- Monitor revenue, occupancy, labor, and operational expenses.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes and ensure timely collection of resident payments.
- Support strategic growth initiatives that strengthen the long-term financial health of the community.
- Utilize data and performance metrics to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.
Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management:
- Maintain responsibility for community emergency preparedness planning and response.
- Ensure staff are trained and prepared to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Oversee implementation and ongoing review of emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Monitor risks and proactively address concerns that may impact resident, visitor, or team member safety.
- Serve in an on-call capacity and respond to urgent operational situations as needed.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required.
- Assisted Living Administrator Certification or post-secondary degree meeting administrative requirements required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of business operations, budgeting, workforce management, and customer service.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and healthcare-related regulations and their practical application.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business software systems.
- Must be available a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional hours required as operational needs dictate.
- Must participate in on-call responsibilities and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Must maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
