Fleet Maintenance Technician

Under general direction, performs a variety of highly skilled diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet of gasoline, diesel, hybrid, heavy duty, medium duty, light duty, and specialized municipal equipment. Utilizes computerized diagnostic equipment, manufacturer software, and technical resources to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Essential functions include performing preventive maintenance and routine service on City vehicles and equipment, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system failures, assisting in training, using acetylene or plasma torch to cut, weld, and fabricate materials, and installing and maintaining police vehicle equipment.

Job requirements include a high school diploma or GED, five years of experience in a mechanical field or similar position, and two years of mechanical training. Required licenses and certificates include ASE Certifications in at least four categories and a current Colorado Class A or B Commercial Drivers license.

Physical requirements include frequent lifting of 40 pounds and occasional lifting of 75 pounds, exposure to outside elements, and hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer.
