Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract. Floating to other units as needed. 13-26 week contracts available. Highlights: Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on a 41-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit Diverse patient population including medical/surgical diagnoses, COVID patients, dementia, diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleeds, and post-surgical cases Remote telemetry monitoring with interpretation of dysrhythmias and EKG required Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and structured SBAR communication Comprehensive orientation with 24 hours of unit-specific training plus initial hospital orientation week First-time travelers accepted; must have minimum 2 years of acute care experience Requirements: Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted) Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must pass EKG testing prior to start date Required skills: Med/Surg nursing, remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, IV starts/phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin and PCA protocols, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula), isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management Preferred: Experience with CVA patients, accessing ports, surgical drains, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and Epic charting Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only) Willingness to work storm team/hurricane team assignments and report during catastrophic events or disasters as needed Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to work with a diverse patient population on a progressive telemetry unit with strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy.
