Role Description The Affordable Housing HUD Compliance Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with HUD regulations and affordable housing program requirements across assigned properties. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing resident files, verifying eligibility and income documentation, conducting regular audits, and preparing reports for internal use and regulatory agencies. The specialist collaborates with property management teams to guide leasing practices, handle recertifications, and address compliance-related issues. The role also involves staying current with changes in federal, state, and local housing regulations, training on-site staff on compliance procedures, and supporting residents with clear communication about program rules and requirements. Qualifications Experience in affordable housing programs, including Affordable Housing and Social Housing compliance. The ability to support residents within program guidelines. Knowledge of Property Management operations, including leasing procedures, documentation standards, and resident file maintenance. Familiarity with HUD regulations, fair housing laws, and other relevant federal, state, and local housing policies. Perform second-level reviews of files for LIHTC, HUD, HOME, RD. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to interpret regulatory requirements accurately. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex rules in accessible language. Proficiency with property management software and standard office applications (e.g., databases, spreadsheets, document management tools). Ability to work on-site, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in affordable housing compliance, social services, or related fields; relevant certifications (e.g., HUD or compliance specialist certifications) are a plus. Experience needed EIV Compliance: 3 years (Required). LIHTC, RD, HUD, and HOME 3 years (Required). 5+ years of direct experience in affordable housing compliance, including file review and approval.
