Automotive Service Writer

Jimmy’s Auto Outlet – Fishkill, NY
Full-Time | Guaranteed Base Salary + Commission

Jimmy’s Auto Outlet is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Writer to join our team. We are looking for someone who is organized, customer-focused, knowledgeable about automotive repair, and comfortable managing the service process from customer intake through completion.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and determine their vehicle service and repair needs
• Create and manage repair orders and estimates using Mitchell 1
• Communicate technician recommendations clearly and professionally to customers
• Obtain customer authorization for repairs and additional work
• Coordinate workflow between customers, technicians, and management
• Provide customers with accurate updates regarding repairs, pricing, and completion times
• Order and coordinate parts as needed
• Review completed repair orders for accuracy before invoicing
• Maintain strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business
• Identify appropriate maintenance and repair opportunities while maintaining a customer-first approach

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of automotive service writer/advisor experience required
• Must be proficient in Mitchell 1
• Strong understanding of automotive repair and maintenance
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to prepare estimates and explain repairs to customers
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive repair environment
• Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
• Valid driver's license
• Professional references required and will be checked

Compensation

Guaranteed base salary plus commission

Base salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Commission provides additional earning potential based on performance and service sales.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with Saturday morning availability as needed.
