The certified technician provides general support to the pharmacist by receiving, reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period. Payment is made after six months, one year, and two years of employment.

Responsibilities include receiving and accurately transcribing orders from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist, processing prescriptions in a timely manner, assisting with training of new employees, assisting with medication therapy management, selecting and preparing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, preparing medications for pick-up, delivery or shipping, solving issues with patient payment, operating and supporting automated dispensing technology, ordering, receiving, restocking, and rotating inventory and supplies, and contributing to process improvement projects.

Education requirements: none required as long as other position qualifications are met. Current enrollment in PharmD program if working as a registered pharmacy intern with NC Board of Pharmacy. Licensure/certification requirements: registration as a technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program. If currently enrolled, an NCBOP Pharmacy Intern registration may be accepted. If enrolled in a PharmD program, CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA can be waived for the duration of the PharmD program. Professional experience requirements: prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Salary range: $18.48 - $25.89 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity. Work type: Full Time. Standard hours per week: 40.00. Work assignment type: Onsite. Work schedule: Rotating. Location of job: US:NC:Chapel Hill. Exempt from overtime: Exempt: No.
