About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred; travel experience preferred License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - PCA experience - Surgical drains - Wound care - Telemetry cardiac rhythm interpretation - Comfort with learning Cardizem/Amiodarone gtt Description: Responsible for providing patient care in a MedSurg/Telemetry environment. The unit typically has a patient ratio of 1 RN to 4 patients and 1 CNA to 8 patients. Patient types include general medical, cardiac issues, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, chest pain, and fluid overload. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with vital signs and activities of daily living. Charge nurses provide oversight but may carry a full patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available for blood draws. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips during their shift. Technology used includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. The unit culture is described as friendly and academic. Floating to other units may be required.
