Ultrasound Tech - Ab/Ob

Performs the following US studies: Abdomen, OB/GYN, Pedi, Basic Vascular, small parts. May perform Interventional procedures. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensures that two points of patient identification is obtained, that patient is properly prepared, and obtains a relevant patient history. Reviews the patient's chart to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results and laboratory data as they apply to accurate interpretation of the ultrasound examination. • Explains exam to the patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintaining ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.). Delivers patient care under scope of license/training • Utilizes universal precaution techniques as well as safety techniques specific to the patient's status. • Be knowledgeable in the operation of all equipment to be used during the workday. To notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed • Rotates within department, divisions and all off-site clinics, by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within department • Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel. • Execute paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam. • Prepare the equipment, room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use. Stock and supply room and general department area as needed. • Remain up to date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment. To participate in education programs and meet state and national requirements for continuing educational credits. • Transport and transfer patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. • Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams. • Perform all other duties as directed. QUALIFICATIONS • Must have graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full time clinical ultrasound experience. • Must meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers)
