Mental Health Technician

Peachford Hospital is located in the north Atlanta suburb of Dunwoody. Due to an increase in patient census we are hiring Mental Health Technicians for full-time positions to work on our Male Crisis Stabilization/High Acuity Unit. We have positions open during the week with no weekend requirements and positions available working every weekend with a higher base pay. All newly hired Mental Health Technicians will participate in our paid classroom and on the job training orientation activities. Peachford is one of the leading behavioral health treatment facilities in the southeast. Our 246 bed hospital is located on a beautiful 38-acre wooded campus and provides life-saving, life-changing, and life-sustaining to services children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Mental Health Technicians (MHAs) are direct patient care providers that deliver nursing care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral, and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care.

MHA include:

Mental Health Technicians are direct patient care providers responsible for positive role modeling, crisis intervention, facilitation of group activities and patient safety. Basic care activities such as taking patient vitals are also part of Mental Health Technician responsibilities. Mental Health Techs work within the nursing department under the direction of an RN Charge Nurse and Unit Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in psychology or other related social service field is required, however, relevant psychiatric healthcare experience may be substituted for a degree. Direct patient care experience is required. Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile.
