Senior Director of Software Engineering, Infrastructure

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 10+ years of applied experience and 5+ years leading technologists on complex technical problems.
• Experience owning CI/CD and release engineering at scale, including platform frameworks, standards, and adoption across teams.
• Strong Java and Python skills to guide architecture and implementation, review designs and code, and unblock teams.
• Expertise in environment management and automation, including provisioning, configuration, lifecycle management, and repeatability.
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle, branching strategies, artifact repositories, versioning, and deployment and release patterns.
• Experience improving platform reliability, observability, and operational readiness, with measurable outcomes such as lead time, deployment frequency, recovery time, availability, and adoption.
• Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders through clear communication and decisive judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Experience partnering with site reliability engineering, production management, security, and risk and control teams to embed resilience, auditability, compliance, and security-by-design.
• Hands-on or proven platform experience with CI/CD and release tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab pipelines, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with delivery and orchestration platforms such as Argo, Spinnaker, Harness, or Flux, and artifact and dependency management tools such as Artifactory, Nexus, Maven, Gradle, or Python package managers.
• Experience implementing development, security, and operations controls and software supply chain safeguards, such as application security testing, software composition analysis, software bills of materials, secrets management, artifact signing, and provenance.
• Preferred: Experience with container platforms and orchestration, such as Kubernetes or OpenShift, and large-scale distributed runtime environments.
• Preferred: Experience building standardized golden paths and self-service developer platforms that improve onboarding and consistency.
• Preferred: Experience designing and scaling reusable pipeline frameworks across multiple portfolios or business lines.
• Preferred: Experience implementing progressive delivery, including canary releases, blue-green deployments, and automated rollback at scale.
• Preferred: Success modernizing legacy CI/CD and environment tooling with minimal disruption and measurable adoption.
• Preferred: Experience improving build and release performance through caching, parallelization, and dependency optimization across large codebases.
• Preferred: Experience delivering platforms in regulated environments with disciplined change management and audit readiness.

• Set and deliver the enterprise vision and multi-year roadmap for CI/CD, release engineering, and environment automation, including operating models, standards, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead platform engineering delivery across portfolios, aligning teams to create scalable pipeline frameworks, reusable components, and automation services.
• Translate business and engineering needs into end-to-end architecture and engineering solutions, documenting reference architectures and trade-offs and building alignment through reviews and governance.
• Define and deliver environment lifecycle management across development, test, staging, and pre-production, enabling standardized self-service provisioning through infrastructure as code and configuration automation.
• Lead and coach engineering teams by setting technical direction and success measures, conducting design reviews, removing blockers, and ensuring milestones are met.
• Work with reliability, production management, security, and risk and control partners to build resilience, auditability, compliance, and security into tools and processes.
• Establish and enforce release governance and engineering standards for change controls, artifacts, versioning, dependencies, and approvals.
• Improve the reliability and operational performance of CI/CD and environment platforms through observability, incident readiness, continuous improvement, and clear performance reporting.
• Modernize pipelines with automated testing, policy and security checks, progressive delivery where appropriate, and automated rollback.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in Java and Python when needed, and improve build and release performance while strengthening software supply chain controls.
