THE ROLE: As a Principal CAD PCB Physical Design Engineer in the Network Technology Solutions Group, NTSG, you will be responsible for the PCB physical design and the technology development for AMD NTSG products in this expanding and strategic market for AMD. To accomplish this, you will need to interact with other key engineering teams such as silicon design, board design, signal/power integrity, and manufacturing.THE PERSON:As the Principal CAD PCB Physical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of AMD NTSG next-generation networking and server products. This is a senior-level, hands-on technical leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of PCB physical design and cross-functional collaboration.KEY RESPONSBILITIES: PCB physical design for high-speed and high-power boards from initial concept to mass productionOptimize component placement, high-speed signal routing, critical power planeCreate design constraints based on the requirements of Hardware Design engineers, Signal/Power-Integrity engineers, Mechanical/Thermal engineersEnsure that complex system layouts meet electrical and mechanical/thermal specificationsAdapt designs to fit component availability or manufacturing limitationsResolve any issue related to PCB physical design and ensure a smooth transition from design to productionGenerate comprehensive manufacturing and assembly packages such as Gerber, ODBBuilding strong relationships with both engineers and manufacturers to reduce the risk of redesigningCollaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product development while keeping projects on schedule and within scope. Stay at the forefront of PCB physical design innovations and technologies to ensure AMD leadership in the industryPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Extensive experience on PCB physical design for high-speed/high-power systemsStrong background in electronic fundamentalsStrong expertise in PCB design software such as Cadence AllegroDeep knowledge on different types of layers such as copper, silkscreen, solder mask, and different types of component models such as symbol, footprintBasic knowledge of mechanical, thermal, signal integrity, power integrityFamiliarity with PCB manufacturing processes and standardsHands-on experience of balancing the technical requirements from hardware engineers and the practical constraints set by manufacturersExcellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skillsACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Bachelor or Master degree of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fieldThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorshipLOCATION:Santa Clara, CA#LI-RF1Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
