RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE!**********************Critical Facilities Engineer (Level 1)The Critical Facilities Engineer provides comprehensive data center white space support for IT infrastructure, which may include monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting, and day-to-day maintenance – all of this being site-dependent and as per the service level agreements with our clients. Critical Facilities Engineers are also responsible for site rounds and using event monitoring and management systems to provide notifications and escalations to stakeholders during service outages.Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.Complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring the skill and direction of several engineering, mechanical, and maintenance trades.Conduct periodic inspections of building systems, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution, maintain mechanical equipment rooms to ensure clean and safe conditions.Rapid response, investigation, and management of indoor emergency situations and air quality complaintsHave a complete working knowledge of creating, closing, and tracking "work requests" (WR). Initiate or respond to work orders, follow-up and verify completion of work.Monitor performance/note deficiencies of service contractors and recommend changes as necessaryPerform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.Supports the delivery of data center services including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services to customers and internal business systems.Acts as an operational contact for data center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.Carries out tasks under the direction of the Network/Engineering Infrastructure Manager and IT Manager necessary to support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.Conducts activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.Coordinates and oversees access to and work within the facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer space.Supports offsite points-of-presence at remote locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.QualificationsA minimum of 0-2 years of directly related experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two+ years' experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units.Good observation skills and problem-solving ability.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipmentAbility to stand for long periods of time in various work environmentsAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasksBasic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quicklyAbility to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectorsClear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glassesAbility to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cablesAbility to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facilityAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snowCapability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protectionPossession of a valid driver's license for work-related travel, as requiredCritical Facilities Engineer (Level 2)The Critical Facilities Engineer is responsible, as part of a team, for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Critical Facilities Engineer primarily interacts with team leads, clients, and vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
