Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic – Aviation Job Description

This role focuses on performing heavy maintenance and complex structural modifications on Gulfstream and Dash-8 aircraft. You will use advanced sheet metal techniques to repair, fabricate, and install structural components while working from blueprints, work cards, and standard aviation maintenance practices in a fast-paced MRO hangar environment.

• Perform heavy maintenance and structural modifications on Gulfstream and Dash-8 aircraft in accordance with aviation standards and company procedures.
• Shoot and buck rivets to precise specifications, ensuring structural integrity and quality workmanship.
• Recognize and differentiate between various types of metals, including their structural strength and thickness, to select appropriate materials and repair methods.
• Perform accurate sheet metal bends following guidelines and specifications used in normal aviation practices.
• Remove existing rivets and fasteners from aircraft structures without causing damage to surrounding components.
• Build and fabricate aircraft components using a variety of sheet metal materials for both repair and modification applications.
• Perform structural repairs on aircraft and determine which repairs can or cannot be made in accordance with applicable guidelines and limitations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure correct completion of builds and modifications.
• Follow both written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks within designated time frames and production schedules.
• Support depot-level maintenance, installations, fabrications, repairs, and modifications as part of a heavy maintenance (MRO) environment.
• Work from production schedules and work cards, documenting work performed and meeting required deadlines.

• FAA Airframe or A&P license.
• 10+ years of sheet metal experience in an aviation environment.
• Proficiency in aircraft sheet metal work, including fabrication, installation, and repair of structural components.
• Hands-on experience with aircraft modifications and heavy maintenance activities.
• Strong riveting skills, including the ability to shoot and buck rivets to specification.
• Ability to recognize different metals, including variations in structural strength and thickness.
• Ability to perform precise sheet metal bends to meet aviation guidelines and specifications.
• Experience in depot maintenance and MRO-type operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Capability to assess and determine which structural repairs are feasible and compliant with standards.
• Ownership of all tools on the minimum tool list, with tools etched with a unique identifier and a shadowed toolbox for tool control.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and complete work within designated time frames.

• Experience working on Gulfstream and Dash-8 aircraft platforms.
• Background in aviation modification programs, including heavy structural modifications.
• Familiarity with ISR or special mission aircraft support environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a hangar-based maintenance and modification team.
• Comfort working from production schedules and work cards in a structured MRO setting.

You will work in a hangar-based MRO environment focused on heavy maintenance and modifications. The setting includes multiple heavy maintenance and modification lines where work is driven by production schedules and detailed work cards, with clear expectations for completing tasks within designated time frames. The team operates Monday through Friday on a 5x8 schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The work emphasizes safety, structured processes, and collaboration, with a culture centered on unity, enthusiasm, proactive urgency, innovation, and mission success.

This is a Contract position based out of Bridgewater, VA.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
