Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Center PACU position requiring 2 years of critical care/PACU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 38-bay Phase I PACU within a Level I Trauma Center
• Average daily census of 70-90 patients
• Day shift, 4x10 hours (12:00-22:30)
• No holidays, no call, no weekends required
• Recover surgical patients from Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant services
• Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
• Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
• Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Level I Trauma PACU experience required
• ICU/critical care experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with pre-op assessment, education, and medications
• Able to obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Pending MO license accepted at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a Level I Trauma Center setting
• Night shift staff may be required to learn pre-op patient workup
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching, Short Term Acute Care hospital
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or must be shaved, no exceptions
• First-time travelers considered, provided they meet the 2 years Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience requirement
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
