Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator is responsible for learning all aspects of the operation to safely process and move material throughout our facility including inspection, and routine/minor maintenance. Also required is the ability to read, write, interpret documents and communicate effectively; and regular and reliable attendance.

Previous experience operating any material handling equipment is required. Willingness to be teachable and trainable in the safe operation of our equipment. Must possess the ability to be reliable, trustworthy, a team player and ability to work on 2nd shift.

More details:

• Perform equipment safety check according to checklist.
• Check all equipment fluid for proper levels and back-up alarm for proper operating condition. Add fluid as needed.
• Perform lubrication and other daily service activities according to procedures.
• Start equipment and check gauges for proper operating status.
• Operate equipment to load/unload and feed scrap processing equipment, according to company and safety procedures.
• Follow shut down procedures at end of shift according to daily checklist.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
• Plan work sequences to ensure the most effective completion of work assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or experience:

• Requires diploma or GED and/or three to five years related experience; or a combination of education and experience. Mechanical aptitude.
• Prior experience operating equipment including but not limited to forklift, tractor, and/or skid steer.
• Past history of reliable attendance.
• Preferred experience: Background in non-ferrous (NF) and ferrous metals, shredders, supervisory or leadership roles, inventory management, equipment operation, or operations/team lead/manager positions.
