Senior Plant Operator

Location Temple/Belton Wastewater Facility Position Title Plant Operator – Senior Pay Grade 920 Safety Sensitive Position Yes Job Category WC – 7520 water or 7580 wastewater Job Summary The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain water or wastewater treatment plants, ensure compliance with permits, regulate process controls, and maintain plant efficiency for the Brazos River Authority (BRA). This is accomplished by collecting samples, performing analysis on water/wastewater samples for process monitoring and reportable analysis, monitoring the operation of the plant, adjusting plant valves, flows, and return rates, adjusting chemical dosages as needed, running various analytical tests, calibrating and maintaining lab and equipment, operating the sludge press and conventional areas of the plant, entering data from lab analysis, and possibly conducting local laboratory testing. Job Responsibilities Other responsibilities include assisting with training and mentoring less experienced operators, working within budget guidelines, performing general and preventative plant maintenance, ensuring discharged water is good quality, ordering supplies and chemicals for treatment, properly maintaining buildings and grounds, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, and any other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum five years' experience or equivalent combination of education Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and Good Driving Record Class B Water and/or Waste Water License Approved Hazmat training required within six months of employment Education High School plus vocational training obtained with advanced study or training past high. Starting Salary Range $26.43 to $33.70 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.
