Job Title Travel RN – NICU (Night Shift) Location Salem, VA | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Projected Start: 08/31/2026 Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to preterm and term infants in a 6-bed NICU (5 open bays, 1 isolation room) at a patient ratio of 1:2–3 Perform and assist with advanced procedures including newborn resuscitation, intubation, umbilical line placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, chest tube insertion, and NG/OG feedings Operate and monitor unit equipment including GE 650 monitors, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights; administer TPN and lipids Stabilize and care for critically ill infants requiring ventilator support, CPAP, and UVC placement Document accurately using Meditech and Centricity Perinatal systems Support breastfeeding education and demonstrate strong patient and family communication consistent with AIDET standards Required Qualifications Active RN licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required Minimum 2 years of NICU experience Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertion in preterm and term infants Strong independent assessment skills with knowledge of signs of declining health in preterm infants Preferred Experience / Skills Experience with breastfeeding support and lactation education Familiarity with Meditech and/or Centricity Perinatal documentation systems Experience collaborating with neonatologists and respiratory therapy in a NICU setting Why Join Us Newly opened NICU unit featuring new equipment and a collaborative, team-oriented environment with strong neonatologist support Block scheduling available, offering greater predictability and work-life balance during your assignment Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 776639.
