Company Description NiSHA (Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals) is a comprehensive animal welfare organization dedicated to treating all animals with love, respect, compassion, and dignity. The board, staff, and volunteers work together to provide a safe haven where no animal in need is ever turned away, and animals are not euthanized due to space, time, or resources. NiSHA actively addresses pet overpopulation by promoting spay/neuter on Nantucket and in communities across the country that are still struggling with this issue. The organization also leads humane education, advocacy, and outreach efforts in the region. NiSHA strives to be the consistent voice for animals and a trusted resource for the community. Role Description Do you have experience or an interest in working with dogs - including large, strong dogs and dogs who may have behavioral challenges? NiSHA is looking for a dependable, compassionate Part-Time Animal Caregiver to join our team and help care for animals who need us. This is a hands-on position that includes: Feeding, cleaning, and providing daily care for shelter animals Walking and working with dogs to build skills and help prepare them for successful homes Handling and caring for cats and other small animals Administering medications as directed Cleaning kennels, cages, and animal care areas Providing enrichment, exercise, attention, and affection to the animals in our care We're looking for someone who: Has a genuine interest in improving the lives of animals Is comfortable walking dogs outdoors in the elements Is dependable and works well as part of a team Is physically able to lift, bend, kneel, clean, and be on their feet throughout a shift Has a valid driver's license Is available for a combination of morning and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays Experience with positive reinforcement training and behavior techniques is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
