Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment. Ensure patient safety, monitor vital signs, and facilitate smooth recovery transitions while adhering to clinical protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient condition and recovery status in the PACU setting.
• Monitor and document vital signs, neurological status, and airway stability using Cerner documentation system.
• Administer medications and interventions as ordered, including ventilator monitoring.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to update patient care plans and ensure optimal recovery outcomes.
• Manage multiple patients efficiently, maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Adhere to unit policies, dress codes, and clinical guidelines, including certification requirements.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license with at least 2 years of recent PACU or peri-anesthesia experience.
• Possess current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Demonstrate trauma and pediatric care experience.
• Have NIH Stroke Scale experience.
• Capable of operating standard PACU equipment and ventilators.
• Willing to float within peri-anesthesia units as needed.
