Radiation Oncology RN

The Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing radiation treatment for cancer. This role involves assessment, intervention, teaching, counseling, and supportive care to assist patients and their families in coping with the diagnosis and treatment process. The RN collaborates closely with the Radiation Oncology Team and serves as a liaison between the oncology department, other healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure continuity and quality of care. Responsibilities:

• Assess and provide nursing interventions for actual or potential patient problems related to cancer and radiation treatment.
• Assist Radiation Oncologist in patient evaluation and examination.
• Provide patient and family education, counseling, and supportive care to facilitate coping and adjustment.
• Coordinate oncology patient care with interdisciplinary team members.
• Serve as liaison between Radiation Oncology and other hospitals, departments, physician groups, and counseling/support organizations.
• Identify and refer patients to alternative resources such as recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services.
• Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing practices, protocols, and evidence-based care.

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Colorado in good standing.
• At least 2 years of RN experience specifically in Radiation Oncology (not general Oncology).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Knowledge of chronic illness, comorbidity management, and cultural sensitivity.

• Experience with coordination of oncology patient care across multiple disciplines.
• Familiarity with latest trends and protocols in hematology, oncology, immunology, pharmacology, and community health.
• Highly organized with flexibility to manage complex patient care needs.

• Work primarily in a Radiation Oncology clinic setting.
• Role requires collaboration with multiple healthcare providers and external agencies.
• Strong emphasis on patient education, counseling, and supportive care.
• Must be able to work effectively under the pressures of a fast-paced oncology environment.

• Work schedule consists of four 10-hour weekday shifts.
• Typical hours are during standard clinic operating times, Monday through Friday.
