Summer 2026 Lifeguard Position at McNear's Beach Pool

Senior Lifeguards will be assigned to work the season at McNear's Beach Park in San Rafael. McNear's Beach pool is open for recreational swimming daily from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm between May and the beginning of September. Senior Lifeguards can expect to work between two and five days a week. Flexible schedules will be considered.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: Supervising a small staff of seasonal Lifeguards; providing ongoing training to staff; scheduling work days and hours; assigning tasks and duties to staff; assisting in evaluating Lifeguard staff and making recommendations regarding performance evaluations to the Supervising Park Ranger; ensuring that the proper level of first aid supplies are available on site; enforcing pool rules and regulations; providing information to the public; performing routine maintenance duties to keep the pool and facility in clean and safe condition; collecting admission fees and preparing daily reconciliation and bank deposit preparation; responding to emergency situations in the pool; performing tests to ensure safe pool water quality; maintaining routine records and performing other related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications and certifications and licenses: One season of experience working as a Lifeguard in a public recreation setting. Certificates and licenses: Possession of, or ability to obtain the following certifications prior to assignment of life-saving duties.

• Lifeguarding certificate issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent certified issuing agency.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS/CPR) issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent certified agency.
• First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent certified agency.

Successful applicants must be willing and available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends and to modify work schedules and work overtime as necessary.
