As an Unarmed Security Officer at a cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming experience for guests, staff, and visitors. You will provide outstanding customer service, communicate professionally, and use computer or tablet tools as needed. Position Type: Part Time Pay Rate: $17.26 - $18.26 / Hour Job Schedule: DayTimeFri12:00 PM - 05:00 PMSat12:00 PM - 05:00 PMSun12:00 PM - 05:00 PM What You'll Do: Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities at a cultural institution. Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout galleries, public areas, offices, collection-adjacent spaces, and the exterior perimeter to help identify unusual activity or facility concerns. Monitor entrances, exits, and visitor flow; verify authorized access to restricted areas and report unauthorized access attempts or policy violations. Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel. Complete accurate activity reports, incident documentation, and shift communications while maintaining a professional, welcoming presence for museum guests. Minimum Requirements: Customer service experience is preferred. Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred. Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
