Title: Director of Emergency Services
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time, Days
Compensation: $128,000 – $191,500/year (based on experience)
Annual Performance Bonus: Up to 17.5%
Position Overview
A large, full-service acute care hospital is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead its high-volume Adult ER with approximately 85 FTEs. This role oversees a high-acuity environment, ensuring operational excellence, quality patient care, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care
- Monitor regulatory compliance, hospital policies, and accreditation standards
- Coach and develop ER managers and core staff, fostering professional growth
- Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Build strong relationships across the hospital and with community stakeholders
- Support recruitment and retention of top talent in the ED
- Oversee performance metrics, departmental programs, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of recent acute care ED Director or Manager experience
- Experience managing a high-volume Level I or II trauma center
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred (Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration)
- Current RN license in practicing state
- ACLS required
- PALS or ENPC required
- BLS required

- Adult ER: ~37 beds, high patient volume
- Reporting: ED Director reports to VP Emergency Services; VP reports to CNO
- Staff Oversight: 2 ER managers, 5 CNCs, ~85 FTEs
